Projects in The Works
July 02, 2019
Gum Springs Water Supply Corporation is currently beginning the first phase of a Capital Improvement Project designed to enhance water service in various parts of the water supply system. These improvements will repair and/or replace aging infrastructure and are aimed at meeting the needs of the Corporation in areas of growth in the water system, as the population in our service area has seen extensive growth since the Corporation was formed in 1966.
The first phase of system improvements will be concentrated on the northern side of the water system, beginning at FM 449 from Pump Station #1 down Walkers Mill Road to the current elevated storage tank. For this portion of the system improvements, contractors are installing a 12-inch water main. In the summer of 2019, contractors will begin installing an 8-inch water main beginning at FM 450 at Noonday Cut-off, proceeding to Mt Pleasant Cut-off and extending down Mt Pleasant Road to Pump Station # 2. These improvements will help the Corporation better serve our customers in these areas of extensive growth within our system.
Although our contractors seek to install these improvements with minimal inconvenience to our Members, please be aware that damage could occur to a water line due to unexpected circumstances, which could result in temporary reduced water pressures, reduced water flow or disruptions in service. Any Member of the Corporation may sign up for our emergency alert system at www.gswsc.com or you may contact our office and staff will assist you in registering for the alert system notification. We appreciate our Members and especially appreciate our Members being patient with us as we complete these Capital Improvement Projects!
Should you have any questions concerning the Capital Improvement Projects, you may contact Derrick Todd, General Manager for Gum Springs WSC, at 903-660-3420.
